Life Is a Box of… CUPCAKES!
This Valentine’s Day, it’s not about boxes of chocolates… but about boxes of cupcakes! How cute are these minis all dressed up in a ‘Valentines-ey’ theme and packaged in a pretty red heart box? Too cute, if you ask me.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We hope you get lots of love today… and every day!

Happy New Year!
2011 was a great year with all of its mountain tops, hills and valleys… although I enjoyed the mountain tops and hills much better, both the highs AND lows contribute to the sweet journey we call life. How else would we be able to appreciate the glorious moments if we never had to muddle through the tougher times, right?
I spent plenty of time over the last few days reflecting on the last year – and I am so happy to have experienced all that I have… and to have met all of the wonderful (and let’s be real, not-so wonderful, lol) people along the way. We don’t realize it, but we learn so much about ourselves in the way we deal with our relationships with one another.
For me, and probably every single entrepreneur in the world – our personal lives spill over into our businesses all too often because there is no real separation between the two (I live, breathe and sleep cupcakes). I hope that I am able to bring my life lessons and positively apply it to how I run my business.
There is no doubt that I bake and create cupcakes with LOVE. But it doesn’t end there. My clients and colleagues become my friends and my life in turn, becomes more fulfilled because of those connections. And… at the end of the day, that’s what life is about isn’t it? …to live a fulfilling life?
Before I write an all to personal and philosophical novel, I’ll end this post here. =)
Cheers to a new year, new beginnings, new connections… and fulfilled lives for us all! Wishing you the absolute best of health and prosperity for 2012 and beyond…

The End of Movember…
Another Movember is almost but a memory. I have to say that participation this year was more wide spread than last… and that’s a great thing – because the more people get involved, the more awareness we can spread! It is equally important to help prevent illness through education and awareness as it is to raise money to find a cure.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to contribute to the cause in our usual cupcake fashion… but we wanted to look back on the efforts we put forth last year. We were ecstatic to find out that the effects were still rippling. This tweet is what sparked the idea for this trip down memory lane:
…and it means so much. It just goes to show that even when you think you’re not making that much of a difference… you really are. So for those of you that missed it, @emaninTdot participated in a FB ‘MoParty’ – it was a question and answer type online contest event and we had fabulous sponsors who provided the prizes… including two of Toronto’s leading men: hip hop recording artist, Drake and professional soccer player, Dwayne DeRosario.
…and you can see our other awesome sponsors like The One Clothing, 1 Love TO, Big It Up, thinkGood, kre8shun, East Side Mario’s, The Keg and Boston Pizza!
Drake signing our three cd prizes… plus one for me! =)
In addition to this online event, The Cupcake Place also submitted our specially concocted Movember cupcake for the MoCupcakes event that would eventually be crowned Toronto’s Manliest Cupcake!
The Cupcake Place’s ‘Monday Night Football Baby BOOYAH’ cupcake is a chocolate guiness cupcake topped with a mound of cream cheese frosting, drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce, sprinkled with bacon bits and crushed pretzels and topped with a hand crafted chocolate moustache and salted pretzel stick!

I think that’s all for our blast from the past. Hope you all enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane with us!

Legendary Cupcakes for Legin Knits
So… remember we mentioned making new friends? Well, Nigel John and his brand, Legin Knits are our official compadrés. Nigel has been creating custom knits for over 15 years and late this summer, he relaunched his booming business with a new line of fresh gear.
…and of course, only the most exclusive events have The Cupcake Place cupcakes help mark the occasion. The Legin Knit cupcakes were a selection of I Can’t Believe it’s Vegan – Vanilla, Velvety Red and Cocoa Beanie. Each cupcake was topped with one of three LK signature logos on fondant (completely edible). Miniature fondant replicas of custom knit work were also created for the man of the hour.
Have a look:

Red Flowers for Red Velvet
These aren’t the average ‘monograms’. We wanted these to be different. Girly, fun and a little whimsical… I think we came through. =) These are red fondant flowers with black swirly stems that ‘turn into’ handpainted letters ‘C’ and ‘V’. These were for a special 28 and 30 year old…
